Prevention:
An excellent way to prevent hornets from entering your home in the first place is to inspect your home for crevices and holes in which hornets could build their nests. In addition, it is also a good idea to determine if you have any existing hornet nests during this inspection.

Fall treatments are important since many species of wasps have queens in their colony which will overwinter in a nest sight. If you see a lot of wasps collecting on the outside of your building in the fall, be sure and spray them heavy with our Knockdown Hornet and Wasp Blaster immediately. These wasps are getting ready to hibernate and have chosen your home for this purpose.

Lastly, installing some Mosquito Shield Wasp Bee Gone nests in areas where wasps are foraging will help keep them away. These nests look like the real thing and wasps will generally avoid any territory which is inhabited by other wasps.

Steps to control:

  • Use an INSECTIDE. When doing this, look for insecticide that sprays several feet, as this enables you to kill the hornets while staying as far away as possible from their nest. Keep in mind that hornets are incredibly dangerous and have the ability to sting their victims numerous times at once. Therefore, it is a good idea to wear thick, protective clothing that covers every part of your body.
  • You should also approach the nest at dawn or dusk, as this is the time the hornets are most likely to be inside the nest. Hornet pest control can be incredibly dangerous, especially since hornets are incredibly aggressive insects. Remove the nest once all activity ceases.
