Habitat:
Gnats are found in almost any aquatic or semi-aquatic habitat through the world. Larvae are always found in some damp location, such as under bark, in rotten wood, compost, mud, stream margins, tree holes, or water-holding plants.
Food:
Females of most species are adapted to suck blood from some kind of host animal.

1. Homeowners can install proper screening for windows and patios to prevent gnats from entering residences and outdoor areas used for leisure and entertaining.
Steps to control:
1. Treat screens with a long-lasting insecticide that will be fatal to the gnats that land on the screen.
