Habitat:
Cutworms are moth larvae that are found on a wide variety of different crops. They have a habit of climbing up the stems of herbaceous plants, shrubs, and vines.

Food:
Cutworm emerge in the dark to feed on plants. A larva typically eat buds, leaves, and fruit.

Method of Travel:
Crawling

Prevention:
1. Rain prevents the adult moth from laying eggs, and also floods the soil so that the cutworms are forced to the surface, where they are preyed upon by natural enemies such as birds.

Steps to control:
1. Plants can be protected in the home garden by placing cylinders made from empty cans or from tarpaper partly sunken into the soil around each plant.
